Don't Miss NIGERIA MONTH
at Sev Shoon & BallardWorks

Opening Reception Saturday, June 12, 6 - 9PM

In May 2009, Sev Shoon owner Dionne Haroutunian traveled to Nigeria as a U.S. State Department Cultural Envoy. Her mission was to teach printmaking at the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN); give lectures at universities in Nsukka, Enugu and Lagos; teach a workshop to children on issues of AIDS and child abuse in Africa; and meet many dignitaries.

NIGERIA MONTH showcases over 150 prints created during the four-day UNN workshop; pictures of her trip; artwork produced by Haroutunian in response to her experience; beautiful Nigerian textiles.

For the event, Ballard welcomes Professor Uka and his wife Ola, and Ngozi Omeje. Ngozi, the current Sev Shoon artist in residence (from mid May to mid June), will share the work she produces during her residency at the opening reception.

Highlights at ArtWalk:
- A traditional tie dye demonstration by Professor Uka and his wife Ola.
- Artwork by Sev Shoon artist in residence Ngozi Omeje
